Peace in the Holy Land

Praying for Peace in the Holy Land
The South Australian Council of Churches continues to encourage prayer and support for the diminishing Christian population in the Holy Land. During the last three years, SACC has made available for sale Peace Lamps and Peace Doves made by young Palestinian Christians in their ceramic workshop in the village of Taybeh in the West Bank. Approximately 320 Lamps and 574 Doves have been purchased so far and placed in churches, offices and homes across Australia. Each purchase contributes to supporting young people in meaningful work in Palestine and providing hope for them to achieved their goal of placing a Peace Lamp in every church in the world'.

In addition to the cost of purchases, the value of which so far is $16,000, any surplus from sales and donations (currently totalling around $3,500), has been returned to the community for local projects such as aged care and providing Christmas gifts to "the only and last 350 Christian families in Gaza".

201709-peaceThe Peace Lamps ($44) and the Peace Doves ($20) can be signs of our solidarity with our Palestinian sisters and brothers in Christ and as a reminder of the need to pray for peace. For more information or to buy a lamp or a dove contact sacc@picknowl.com.au
